The nation is grappling with significant infrastructure challenges, highlighted by a major theft of copper valued at over 5 million euros that has crippled critical railway infrastructure. This comes as intensive efforts continue on the Kichevo-Ohrid highway, with the complex third tunnel nearing completion and 10 kilometers of the route set to open soon.
Politically, discussions are ongoing regarding the Law on Equitable Representation, with Izet Mexhiti, First Deputy Prime Minister and co-leader of VLEN, urging the BDI party to support it, while Minister of Public Administration Goran Minchev expects its passage. Environmental concerns have also emerged, with investigations launched into a white substance and foam in the Lepenec River, and the opposition Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (LSDM) raising alarms about inflation and contaminated drinking water in several municipalities.
The country is also observing several anniversaries, including 63 years since the devastating Skopje earthquake and 50 years since a fatal flood in Kumanovo. Additionally, the 100th anniversary of the death of Krste Petkov Misirkov, a pivotal figure in Macedonian national and linguistic thought, is being commemorated.
