Prison guards reportedly told inmates to behave nicely during torture-murder

A trial in Vantaa has heard that prison guards were aware of a serious threat against a 21-year-old inmate but only instructed his future killers to behave. The victim was subsequently tortured to death in his cell; the indictment suggests the noise was audible to staff who failed to intervene.
The trial of MMA fighter Makwan Amirkhani has also opened, following allegations of sexual offenses against Mira Luoti during the filming of a reality television series. The prosecution alleges an assault occurred in a forest; the defense claims the charges are a retaliatory fabrication involving a dispute over bribes.
Elsewhere, the CEO of the pension provider Keva has suggested a flat one-percentage-point increase in income tax to avoid cutting pensions, noting that the national finances must move away from an Eastern European model. Meanwhile, residents ordering alcohol online have been warned that tax invoices may arrive long after the bottles have been emptied.
