Ukraine is grappling with a severe escalation of Russian aggression, as cities across the country, including the capital Kyiv, face relentless missile attacks. Kyiv endured a "hellish night" marked by ballistic strikes that ignited fires and caused extensive damage to buildings and dozens of vehicles. Similar devastating strikes have been reported in major regional centers like Kryvyi Rih, where a hypermarket was completely destroyed, and Kharkiv, where a residential building was hit, resulting in casualties. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, reported that over half of Russia's missiles launched in the past week were ballistic.
In response to the intensified attacks, Ukrainian defense forces have conducted counter-strikes, successfully targeting a 'Chernomornaftogaz' facility and a transmitter in Crimea, as well as a bridge in the Donetsk region. Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has apprehended an agent accused of activating over 1000 Starlink systems for Russian forces.
Domestically, the political landscape is marked by discussions surrounding Mykhailo Fedorov, former Minister of Defence of Ukraine, and his relationship with President Zelenskyy. Political analyst Reuterovych highlighted a potential stalemate and the risks of changes within the National Security and Defense Council, amidst reports of unfavorable public sentiment towards President Zelenskyy. Serhii Koretskyi currently serves as the Prime Minister of Ukraine, with the Servant of the People party forming the government.
