Agreements with France Bolster European Path Amid Political Uncertainty

Kosovo has signed five agreements with France, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation and open a new chapter in their relationship. This comes as French Minister Delegate for European Affairs, Benjamin Haddad, emphasized that Kosovo's progress towards the European Union is contingent upon implementing obligations from the Brussels Agreement. France has also declared support for Kosovo's bid to join the Council of Europe.
Domestically, the political landscape remains in flux. Acting President and Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, has announced that the constitutive session of the Assembly will be held on August 6th. This follows ongoing discussions and uncertainties surrounding the formation of a new government, with questions raised about whether Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti will form a new government or continue in a caretaker role. The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has suspended talks on government formation due to an internal party initiative for his dismissal.
Other key domestic issues include concerns over the Competition Authority's inability to function due to internal conflicts of interest, and a controversy surrounding the 'Lule Gjeli' social media profile, which has led to a complaint filed by Member of Parliament Blerta Deliu with the Special Prosecutor's Office.
