The Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) has initiated extradition procedures for businessman Ermal Beqiraj, arrested in France in connection with the AKSHI corruption scandal. He is accused of manipulating tenders and allegedly planning to purchase a French castle with illicit funds. New charges have also been filed against Belinda Balluku, a former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister, as anti-corruption investigations continue to widen.
Anti-government protests have reached their 64th consecutive day, with a national rally concluding in a march and further demonstrations planned, including one against the establishment of a Serbian Consulate. Amidst this, a large group of scientists has urged the government to halt tourism projects in the Vjosa Delta, highlighting growing environmental concerns.
The Socialist Party's territorial reform draft is facing criticism for not altering the governance model, with a socialist mayor opposing the dissolution of the Dimal municipality. Separately, reports indicate a deterioration of media freedom during recent protest periods, and several incidents of crime and traffic accidents were reported across the country.
