Presidential Profile Agreed Amidst Escalating Protests, Blockade Continues

Political tensions remain high as the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and its allies, including the Alliance and Vushtrri assembly members, continued to block the government entrance for a fifth consecutive day, now joined by local producers. They are warning of massive protests if the institutional blockade persists and the Assembly is not constituted, deepening the political gridlock.
Despite the ongoing protests, there's a potential breakthrough in the presidential election deadlock. The Vetëvendosje (LVV) movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) have reached an agreement in principle on the desired profile for the next president, with an LVV Member of Parliament reporting positive progress in discussions. Acting President Albulena Haxhiu also called for discussions on specific names for a consensus candidate.
In other news, Jean-François Huchet has been appointed as the new Ambassador of France to Kosovo, set to assume his duties in early September. Authorities conducted five raids in Zubin Potok, confiscating weapons and military equipment, while a money laundering investigation was initiated after approximately 30,000 euros were found in a vehicle in Vermica. Internationally, Russian ballistic missile strikes have killed 12 people in Kyiv.
