Slovakia is grappling with the aftermath of severe storms that swept across the country, causing widespread damage and injuries, particularly in Bratislava where fallen trees and damaged vehicles were reported. The capital's Petržalka district was among the hardest hit, with police also seeking owners of numerous stolen license plates.

In the political arena, a new poll reveals a narrow lead for Prime Minister Robert Fico's Smer party over the opposition Progressive Slovakia, indicating a closely contested political landscape. This comes as a former NAKA official, Chudý, made public claims regarding attempts to remove him, attributing his ability to write a book to Tibor Gašpar.

Further scrutiny falls on the government with the Ministry of Interior facing a fine for allegedly circumventing the law in a million-euro tender from Robert Kaliňák's prior tenure. Separately, police have detained four juvenile attackers in Nitra following an assault on Indian nationals, in an operation dubbed 'Prejudice'.

Robert Fico currently serves as the Prime Minister of Slovakia, leading a coalition government comprised of Direction – Social Democracy (Smer), Voice – Social Democracy (Hlas), and the Slovak National Party (SNS).
