New reports have brought to light considerable government spending during the previous administration, including the costs of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's campaign visit to Donald Trump, now the 47th President of the United States, and extensive foreign advertising campaigns. These revelations come amidst growing scrutiny over the financial dealings of figures associated with the former ruling party, Fidesz.
Investigations are particularly focused on alleged financial irregularities involving Antal Rogán's former ministry, which reportedly paid significantly above market rates for advertisements in a tabloid connected to his ex-wife, Cecília Rogán-Szendrei, and her business partner, Kata Sarka. Further inquiries into the substantial revenues of this tabloid and public funds received by businessman Lőrinc Mészáros's billboard company highlight concerns about state-linked financial networks.
In other domestic news, Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced that the Paks nuclear power plant is expected to reach nearly 2000 megawatts of output within two days. Additionally, Interior Minister Gábor Pósfai indicated that more details will soon be shared regarding ongoing reviews within his ministry, and Kossuth Radio has officially relaunched with revamped programming.
