The National Assembly has reconvened following its parliamentary recess and is set to decide today on calling three consultative referendums. This legislative action comes as public attention remains focused on political transparency and accountability, with discussions also arising on whether the Constitutional Court could potentially halt these referendums.
In a related development, Minister of Education, Science and Youth Borut Rončević is reportedly reluctant to disclose whether he is a member of a Masonic lodge, adding a new dimension to ongoing probes into secret societies and their influence. This follows previous reports of a minister facing a secret society probe.
The country is also grappling with a fresh wave of financial misconduct allegations, including a large-scale operation where four individuals allegedly defrauded a bank of 9.8 million euros. Further investigations have uncovered a Greek apartment owned by individuals reportedly owing employees tens of thousands of euros, and allegations of Minister of Agriculture Janez Cigler Kralj using state funds for a family car have also surfaced.
