The government has extended the state of alert in the energy and hydrological sectors for another 30 days, as Prime Minister Vasile Tofan addressed the potential for electricity price increases and expressed doubts about providing compensation to 80% of households this winter. The government is reportedly seeking European funds to support energy subsidies for families.
In a significant cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan confirmed that former Romanian Economy Minister Claudiu Năsui has accepted the nomination to become the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, following his recent grant of Moldovan citizenship. Tofan also clarified his interactions with President Maia Sandu.
Meanwhile, the autonomous region of Gagauzia is moving forward with elections under new rules, with changes to the Electoral Code approved without the Venice Commission's endorsement. On a positive note, Moldovan educational institutions have seen a 5.2% increase in student enrollment, with over 22,000 students admitted after two rounds.
