President Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman have agreed to hold weekly meetings to facilitate progress in the ongoing discussions regarding the Cyprus problem. This marks a new phase of intensified diplomatic efforts for a resolution.
Domestically, the Cabinet is preparing to convene to decide on the National Guard's Deputy Chief, considering two scenarios and three candidates. Separately, 16 prison guards have been suspended at the Central Prisons after the discovery of drugs, mobile phones, and serious criminal cases within the facility.
Other significant developments include the presentation of a report to President Christodoulides by Dr. Stavros Malas, Head of the Special Scientific Committee for the reconstruction and improvement of the livestock sector, which calls for difficult political decisions, potentially including the relocation of some stockbreeders. A figure known as 'Santi' has also reportedly returned, making new admissions about controversial messages and addressing inquiries regarding a lost mobile phone.
