Ukraine has experienced a new wave of intense aerial attacks, with Russian drones striking a residential building in Kyiv, injuring six people and damaging a 24-story structure. Further attacks targeted industrial facilities in the Kyiv region, Bila Tserkva, and a hypermarket in Mykolaiv, causing fires and partial power outages across five regions. In a significant escalation, Russian forces also reportedly attacked a border crossing point between Ukraine and Moldova, leading to fatalities. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the current head of state, has vowed that Russia's "missile and drone terror will not go unpunished" following these recent strikes.

In domestic political developments, Ruslan Kravchenko, who served as Prosecutor General of Ukraine until September 8, 2026, resigned from his post amid a major corruption investigation into his office. This follows a probe into alleged involvement in a money-laundering scheme. Additionally, Olha Stefanishyna, who served as Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States from August 2025 to August 2026, also resigned, citing a need to focus on personal matters related to investigations involving her family members.

On the military front, Ukrainian defenders reported successfully destroying a Russian carrier-based Su-33 fighter jet and a Mi-8 helicopter in Anapa. Separately, Kyiv has introduced a new air raid alert system with 'red' and 'yellow' alerts, which will impact public transport and shopping centers. Serhii Koretskyi is the current Prime Minister of Ukraine, and the Servant of the People party, led by President Zelenskyy, remains the ruling party.
