Legal proceedings against former President Hashim Thaçi and other former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders are intensifying, with the Special Prosecutor's Office explicitly requesting prison sentences, including six years for Hashim Thaçi, for obstruction of justice. The prosecution claims 28 hours of recordings from Thaçi's detention center contain 'shocking content', and a five-day countdown remains for the overall indictment against Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi.
The constitutive session of the Assembly continues to be mired in political deadlock, with lawmakers expected to convene again to vote on vice-presidents. The ruling Self-Determination Movement (VV) has called on opposition parties, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), to reconsider their nominees. Lutfi Haziri, Deputy Chairman of the LDK, stated that his party would not withdraw its nominee, Shala, and accused VV of using a declaration by the Serb List (LS) as a pretext to block the process.
