The 2027 French presidential election is gaining momentum, with Marine Le Pen, parliamentary party leader of the National Rally, officially launching her campaign on September 13th. Éric Zemmour, president of Reconquête, is also preparing his candidacy, bolstered by the visible popularity of Sarah Knafo, a Member of the European Parliament for Reconquête. Recent polls show Le Pen in a strong leading position, with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, founder of La France Insoumise and a prominent figure in the New Popular Front, featuring in multiple runoff scenarios.
Adding to the political discourse, the government, led by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, has proposed a measure to collect 6 billion euros from retirees for the 2027 budget.
