Prosecutor General Accuses Anti-Graft Chief, Faces Imminent Dismissal

A significant political confrontation has erupted with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko signing a notice of suspicion against Semen Kryvonos, the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). Kravchenko alleges that Kryvonos engaged in official document forgery to obtain unlawful benefits and fabricated a child's testimony to evade investigation. This development follows Kravchenko's own resignation last week amidst an anti-corruption investigation within his office.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded by calling for the Verkhovna Rada to urgently approve Kravchenko's dismissal. The parliamentary vote on his removal is anticipated for September 15th. Meanwhile, Kravchenko has confirmed his departure from Ukraine, stating he is on an official business trip, while sources suggest his exit occurred overnight as the confrontation intensified. Danylo Hetmantsev, a Member of Parliament, is reportedly being considered as a potential replacement for the Prosecutor General.
In other news, Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted a majority of incoming drones, neutralizing 85 out of 108, though seven locations reported impacts. Poland is also reportedly seeking to change border traffic arrangements with Ukraine following a recent attack.
