A new development in the Daphne Caruana Galizia assassination case has emerged as the Attorney General's Office referred a request by Nationalist MEP David Casa for a perjury investigation into Yorgen Fenech to the police. This comes amidst ongoing large-scale protests in Valletta, where thousands are demanding justice following Fenech's acquittal. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reiterated that there can be no impunity for Caruana Galizia's murder, and the European Parliament is launching a fact-finding mission to Malta over the Fenech acquittal.
Separately, Minister for Home Affairs and Security Glenn Bedingfield announced that Mohammed Elmushraty, known as Lilu King, has had his refugee status revoked. Meanwhile, the Central Bank has issued a stark warning that the country's population could significantly decrease if migration ceases.
