A Special Court in The Hague has delivered its first-instance verdict, convicting four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Former President Hashim Thaçi and former Assembly Speaker Jakup Krasniqi were each sentenced to 25 years in prison, while Kadri Veseli received 18 years and Rexhep Selimi 13 years, totaling 81 years for the group.
The landmark ruling has provoked strong reactions across the nation, with Prime Minister Albin Kurti labeling the convictions an "injustice" that must be rectified through an appeal.
