Anti-Smuggling Operation Nets 13; Lottery Case Evidence Presented

Authorities have launched 'Operation Filter', a significant anti-smuggling crackdown resulting in the detention of 13 individuals across more than 20 locations. The operation targets an organized cigarette smuggling ring, including freight, transport, and import companies, as well as officials.
In related legal developments, prosecutors have presented 231 pieces of evidence in the 'Lottery' case, which involves Artan Grubi, Përparim Rramizi, and six other individuals. A lawyer is challenging the legal basis for criminal prosecution in this case, which centers on alleged 10 million euro embezzlement. Separately, the government is scrutinizing and implementing sanctions for widespread abuses of medical leave by doctors and health commissions.
On a cultural note, historical photographs of Kemal Atatürk, taken in 1909 by the Manaki brothers, have been discovered in the Bitola archives after decades of research. Meanwhile, VMRO-DPMNE spokesperson Valentin Manasievski has questioned SDSM MP and former Deputy Prime Minister Ljupcho Nikolovski regarding a lawsuit, with Nikolovski failing to appear in court for the hearing.
