President Aleksandar Vučić is anticipated to resign from office today, Sunday, a move that will initiate the process for electing a new president and could see Ana Brnabić assume three of the country's most significant political roles. This development follows previous announcements of his intention to step down and run for prime minister in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The ongoing election campaign saw a new dynamic as public broadcaster RTS invited President Vučić, Ilija Srdanović, and the director of CRTA to a pre-election debate; however, the election monitoring organization CRTA subsequently declined, affirming its role as an observer rather than a participant.
Other significant domestic news includes the questioning of the Workers' Party's registration and funding, with accusations directed at Željko Veselinović, who has responded to the claims. Meanwhile, nine individuals have been arrested in Zubin Potok on suspicion of war crimes, and the Ministry of Tourism reported a positive trend in tourist visits this year.
