The City of Vienna has been hit by a cyberattack that resulted in the copying of 26,000 internal documents, including the personal data of 6,000 individuals. Authorities are investigating the source of the breach, though there is currently no evidence that the files have been published.
The Social Democratic Party’s internal power struggle has moved to a Sunday meeting in Vienna, where Andreas Babler will face state leaders. His challenger, Gerhard Zeiler, has positioned himself as an interim candidate and accused the incumbent of practicing pure socialism; Mr Babler has responded by attempting to clarify a situation that colleagues in Carinthia find increasingly untenable.
Elsewhere, judges in Salzburg have announced a strike over their workload, suggesting that even the judiciary has its limits. The University of Vienna has entered the global top 100 rankings, though its administration may be less celebratory about a court ruling that will force the university to make its internal exam data public after a student won a legal challenge.
