Austria has experienced a record number of heat-related deaths this summer, with an estimated 995 fatalities between June and August. This marks the highest figure since monitoring began.
Meanwhile, the President of the Constitutional Court, Christoph Grabenwarter, has issued a stark warning that the rule of law is under threat, advocating for increased authority for the highest court. The country also saw inflation climb to 3.6 percent, with concerns among restaurateurs about further price increases due to rising fuel, energy, staff, and food costs.
In other domestic news, allegations of harassment within the Foreign Ministry have surfaced, where a consul is accused of harassing a female employee, and the ministry's response was deemed inadequate by the Equal Treatment Commission.
