Arbitral tribunal rejects 471m lei gas industry claim

The state has avoided a 471 million lei payout after an arbitral tribunal rejected claims from several gas companies in their entirety. The ruling settles a major financial dispute regarding the country's energy infrastructure.
Security services have also been busy abroad and at home. Yuri Radulov, a life-sentenced prisoner nicknamed Bobr, was apprehended in Turkey and faces extradition, while a corruption raid at the Leușeni food safety post ended with two employees and three economic agents under investigation.
Diplomatically, the calendar is filling up. Candidates for the leadership of Gagauzia face their final registration deadline today, and the government is scheduled to receive its formal EU accession roadmap on October 28. EU officials suggested new negotiation clusters could open as early as next week.
