A commission has confirmed charges against Adam Glapiński, the President of the National Bank of Poland, marking a significant development regarding his position. Glapiński, who has served as NBP President since June 2016, was appointed for a second term in May 2022, which is due to expire in June 2028.
In other key developments, police have launched widespread operations and made numerous arrests of teenagers across the country in response to a series of school attacks and online threats. These operations included checking approximately 10,000 schools nationwide. Specific incidents reported today include a 15-year-old student murdering a school caretaker in Ostrołęka, a 14-year-old detained with a knife in a Warsaw school, and schools implementing closures and deploying extra police patrols as precautionary measures.
Politically, reports suggest a new, secret alliance is forming between the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party and Konfederacja, with a significant test for this cooperation anticipated soon. Currently, the government is led by the 15 October Coalition, headed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, while Karol Nawrocki serves as the President of Poland.
