Milorad Dodik has announced a new constitution for Republika Srpska, which would move the entity's capital to Pale and formally distance Bosniaks from Sarajevo. The move follows a familiar pattern for the Bosnian Serb leader, who continues to leverage constitutional proposals during the protracted government formation talks between his SNSD party and the HDZ BiH.
While the elder Dodik focused on the capital, an investigation into his son, Igor, has linked him to a lobbying initiative for Donald Trump. The project appears to have been remarkably efficient: reports indicate the group's treasurer has been dead for two and a half years, and no financial records have been filed during that time.
The domestic agenda elsewhere is dominated by infrastructure and labor. Prosecutors are investigating millions in questioned funds and construction delays at the state highway operator, Autoceste FBiH. At the same time, the country's employers warned that they are struggling to find even one applicant for every ten job vacancies.
