Leonard Caruana and Elaine Rizzo have officially taken their oaths as judges of the Superior Courts. While the bench expands, the top remains uncertain: Justice Minister Clifton Grima is calling for an immediate resumption of talks to find a successor for Chief Justice Mark Chetcuti, whose term was intended to conclude.
A coalition of media groups, including PEN Malta and the Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation, has asked Prime Minister Robert Abela to consult with the public before enacting new media laws. Elsewhere, the Nationalist Party has secured an urgent court hearing for its constitutional case against the national broadcaster, PBS.
The 2026/27 scholastic year has commenced. Approximately 54,000 students across Malta and Gozo have returned to their desks.
