Caretaker Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was questioned today by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) in Iași as a witness in a case involving businessman Fănel Bogos. Prosecutors are seeking details regarding a meeting between Bolojan and Bogos that allegedly took place in the prime minister's office, with intermediaries reportedly receiving substantial sums to facilitate the businessman's access to the official.
Economically, the Romanian Leu depreciated to a historic low against the Euro, following a significant drop in the National Bank's reserves. This comes as the country awaits S&P Global Ratings' assessment of its sovereign rating, with a potential downgrade to 'junk' status looming. The automotive industry is also facing a visible decline, resulting in over 30,000 job losses.
