The city of Split has been placed under heightened security, effectively becoming a 'fortress city' with national security agencies and special forces implementing measures such as food checks and blood reserves. This intense security backdrop coincided with the last-minute cancellation of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's planned visit to the city.
Meanwhile, new allegations of questionable public spending have surfaced. An investigative report revealed that a 24-year-old advisor to the Split mayor, who also held government contracts, was paid €2500 for four days of filming Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. Separately, a municipality is reported to have consistently spent public funds at a restaurant owned by the son of an HDZ mayor, where the mayor's wife is also employed.
In sports, Croatian national football team coach Slaven Bilić has announced significant changes to the squad for the upcoming match against Spain, including the exclusion of four players and a planned major tactical shift, with Sučić potentially playing a key role.
