Moldova is actively pursuing its European integration goals, with President Maia Sandu affirming the country's readiness to open the remaining negotiation clusters during a phone call with António Costa, President of the European Council. Discussions are also underway concerning Moldova's potential to be prioritized over Ukraine in the EU expansion process, reflecting ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Domestically, a recent investigative report by Ziarul de Gardă revealed that only one tax evasion case with a non-guilty plea resulted in a conviction at the Chișinău Court over the past six years. In other significant developments, President Maia Sandu and President of the Parliament Igor Grosu discussed the possibility of Moldova producing its own anti-aircraft defense equipment.
The media landscape is also seeing changes, as Agora announced its transition to a social media-only platform and a new multi-publisher platform called Laziar, effective May 14, 2026. Furthermore, the government's proposed administrative-territorial reform is progressing, with details emerging about the consolidation of 32 districts into three regions and a reduction of 892 mayoralties to 273.
