The Czech political scene is reacting to the definitive results of the Senate elections, which delivered a significant blow to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš's ANO movement and its coalition partners. The ruling coalition failed to secure any of the contested seats, a result Babiš described as 'catastrophic.' He is reportedly preparing to hold individuals accountable for the electoral setback, focusing on three regions where substantial losses occurred.
In contrast, opposition parties, particularly the Mayors and Independents (STAN) movement, made notable gains, securing ten senatorial seats and reinforcing the opposition's majority in the upper house. This outcome is seen as a crucial test for Prime Minister Babiš since his return to power in October 2025.
