A red air alert was issued and subsequently cancelled in parts of Lithuania today after residents in the Pasvalys region reported explosions and the sound of fighter jets. Authorities have since found potential drone debris in the area, leading to an ongoing investigation into how the object fell.
Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas stated that the suspected drone could not be intercepted as it was not visually detectable, with adverse weather conditions hindering identification. The Pasvalys district, where the wreckage was discovered, was cordoned off as a precautionary measure.
