In other domestic news, the country is bracing for significantly colder weather as polar air moves in, bringing sub-zero temperatures. Separately, a 140-year-old cast iron bridge in Băile Herculane is slated for a 2.7 million euro restoration project. The country's highway network has also seen an expansion following a new inauguration.
Meanwhile, an internal conflict has escalated within the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) party, with its chairman George Simion suing Marius Lulea. Law enforcement has also conducted raids in Romania, Germany, and Austria targeting a human trafficking ring, while a microbus driver in Bihor was attacked and robbed of drugs worth €900,000. Additionally, Romanian companies are increasingly hiring Asian workers despite higher costs due to a local labor shortage, and Péter Magyar's political actions in Transylvania are seen as threatening the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania's (UDMR) long-standing influence.
